Our Story...

Clarence Farm Services Ltd. was founded by Clarence Kloosterhof in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia in 1969. In 1971 a second retail outlet was opened in Truro, and in 1977 a new store opened with an expanded warehouse, retail and milling facilities in lower Truro. The number of stores increased to four in 1980, when outlets in Amherst and Moncton were acquired. As we grow and evolve, our five physical stores located in Hunter River, Truro, Amherst, Moncton and Sussex continue to provide expert advice and service that our customers have enjoyed for over 50 years.

Clarence Farm Services Ltd. entered large scale feed production in 1985 with the purchase of the Truro mill from Ralston Purina Canada. The retail division expanded to its present-day total of five stores in 1989 when the retail outlet in Sussex was added. Clarence Farm Services Ltd., manufacturers Purina Chows under an agreement with Cargill Animal Nutrition Canada, producing annually approximately 60,000 tons of bagged and bulk livestock feed.

With stores and an independently owned dealer network in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador we are uniquely positioned to service the Atlantic agricultural community.
